One of those days

I trust that you are all sitting down to your lunch fare of choice, perhaps a salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or steaming bowl of soup. I'm sitting in the parking lot of Brian's office, waiting for him to come out so we can eat lunch together.

You know, when Brian took his new job, we knew it would be a blessing to have him working locally, rather than commuting 75 miles each way. But, I had no idea how much of a blessing it would be!

More days than not, we get to see each other for lunch during the middle of the day. I love that! It almost feels like dating!

I remember the spring of our engagement. Brian was between jobs and I took several days off during that time. We would eat brunch together at a local restaurant. He read the newspaper while I worked the crossword puzzle. As he came upon interesting tidbits, he'd share them with me. And, as I needed help with a word, I'd call on him. Those days were special.

And, so are these. Though our conversations aren't as lighthearted and shallow as they used to be, they are no less enjoyable. In fact, I think I enjoy them more!

I was just thinking that our talks with Jesus are the same. The longer we know Him and more time we spend with Him, the fuller our conversations become. We find that they are less shallow, and more deep with His presence and guidance. To know Him, is to desire more of Him, just as it is with Brian.

I love the way God uses our marriages to teach us more about Himself. I guess that's the whole meaning behind the bride of Christ. These relationships on earth are meant to direct our gaze upon Jesus.
