Signs of the Season

I don't know about you, but I've been bitten with the holiday bug! We've had the wonderful opportunity this weekend to just sit back and take in the joy of the season. Y'all, that's Jesus. He's transformed us through the renewing of our minds. He's allowed us to look at Him, instead of at our circumstances, which are trivial when you cover them with the power of His Name. I'm just sitting in complete delight this afternoon, as I consider all that He's done for me.

Last night, we had the blessing of celebrating Christmas with Brian's parents. I thought you might enjoy sneaking a peek of our time together.

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care.
Brian got to show off his mad cooking skills to make sweet potatoes and onions. Yummy! A good 'ole Southern delight!
Us.
This is that yucky coffee that is actually cat poop, or something like that. Like, it's coffee beans that have been passed through a cat. It's supposed to be more flavorful. Sorry, if I just made you toss your cookies. It was a cultural experience.
Paper packages all tied up with string.
Josh and Lauren (aka - the most giving couple you've ever met)
The men folk
Okay, this was the neatest thing ever. Judy had two small undecorated trees. Then, she prepared each of these symbolic ornaments with a different name of Jesus. We each took one and read the scripture that went with the ornament. Then, we hung our ornament on the tree to symbolize a name of Jesus. So, very cool!

The gift giving. The grand finale.
Oh, wait! Dessert was the grand finale!

I'll have to admit that this Christmas seems particularly special to me. I'm just in awe of God's power to give life, through the life of a baby, Jesus. Each time I think about that sweet baby boy, my body covers in chills. Thank you, Jesus, for helping me to glimpse (in a very small way) what you've done for me. I am so unworthy, yet you did it anyway. You love me that much. And, He loves you that much. Incredible. Completely incredible.

Lindsey & Brian,
What a great idea with the Jesus tree. We will so have to use that and pass it along. Great tradition to start.
On another note, the advent candle this morning was on Joy. You are the picture of Joy. You project Joy. You pass along Joy. Real Joy is contagious and you spread it to everyone you meet through your blog. II Corinthians 7:4 says that joy knows no boundaries. When I read that, I immediately thought of you and the Joy that you spread daily through your blog. The Joy that Christ gives us is to be shared and that, my friend, is what you guys are doing through your trials. You are spreading Christ's Joy to all of us!
Merry Christmas and may your days be Joyful!

Thanks for taking the time to upload and share all the neat pictures Lindsey. Beautiful idea with the names of Jesus and that is something I think I will have to incorporate in some form or another in our home for sure. Beautiful picture of you and so glad you had a nice night. The gift of himself is too wonderful to grasp is it not... He is truly the gift that keep giving. The blessings of knowing Him as Lord, Savior, Healer, Provider, Friend ect. can not be compared. Praising Him with You for all He has done - both that special night and every one since. Love you.

What a lovely evening with family. I love that idea of the ornaments with a different name for Jesus and the scripture reading--I may have to bring that into our Christmas tradition.

Oh, and, on a really, really superficial note, you look stunning with that red lipstick! I love it!

Prayers and thoughts you way. Merry Christmas!
