A Happy House

Our homes say a whole lot about us, don't they? Some are content to live in stark environments with little to no visual stimulation. Others prefer places of luxury and splendor. Still others don't know what they prefer, and their homes are a mix of eclectic elements. I'm as nosy as they come when it comes to houses. I LOVE to look at people's homes.

My sister's home has always been one of my favorites. Perhaps it's because I was present for so much of its creation. Or maybe it's just because we're sisters, so we tend to have similar tastes. Who knows...

Since I posted about Hensley's birthday yesterday, I thought today would be an appropriate day to show you her "big girl room". I asked Ashley if I could use her house for a blog post. She kindly agreed, but she told me that I did have to provide a few disclaimers.

Come on in...

This is Hensley's new bed. Disclaimer number one, please disregard the bed rails. Certainly, we don't want sweet Hensley to crash to the floor during her slumber!

Most of the room is the same as it was for her nursery, but the bed is all new.

They made these:
This is the shelf above the door:
Are you jealous of that little girl yet? What a room, right? And, I have to tell you, too, that the furniture pieces are all consignment/flea market/garage sale finds. Impressive, huh?

Disclaimer number two: they are still recovering a chair and working on a reading nook for the corner that I didn't show you. It's going to have a crystal light fixture and the coolest chair you've ever seen. Stay tuned....

Now, this is Maddox's room:

So, cool, too!

This is Ashley and Brian's room:

And, the front living room:

Pottery Barn hasn't got a thing on this happy house! Well, done, Ashley and Brian! Very well done!

What a beautiful house! I've never seen such lovely things. Everything is put together perfectly. What a knack they have for decorating. Why, I wish I could just move in!

Just beautiful. Good job Ashley, if ou're reading these comments. You are very creative!
And WHAT is your secret to having a 2 year old with all the nik-nacks? Our little Noah is almost 16 months and would grab all those beautiful goodies and do who knows what with them! Maybe the next few months between now and when he turns 2, he will become less of a turbo-boy and less interested in getting into everything... Naaa, Who am I kidding. ;)
