Things are 'a Changin' and I've Matured!

Good Morning, My Dear Friends!

Well, how do you like the new layout? I know, there are still kinks to be worked out. There are still things to be added and deleted, but she's on her way to a much more user-friendly existence. You'll notice an updated name and some updated features (which don't exactly work yet :).

As for my iWeb experience that I spoke about on Friday? BLAH! I finally gave up and went back to blogger. It wasn't iPhone compatible and it was taking FOREVER to publish one measly little change. I'm far too impatient and non-techy to figure that all out. I'm sure there is a way to make it work for an iPhone, and I'm sure that if we didn't live out in the sticks with the slowest internet connection known to man, it would publish faster. But for now, I'm returning to blogger.

So, there you have it, a whole new look!

By now, I'm sure you've noticed that I like change. I thrive on it. This is a new feature of my personality. It used to scare me just a wee bit, but it energizes me now. Isn't God funny?

In other news, we made some changes around our house this weekend, too. This is the part where I figured out that I've matured. Back in the old days of Lindsey, there wouldn't have been any way that I would've revealed our happenings, unless they were completely, 100% finished. Looking perfectly exquisite. Gone are those days! And, there is SO much freedom in that! So, don't be offended by the fact that every surface isn't clean, the pillows are not perfectly fluffed, the walls need painting and artwork, and everything is missing an accessory. It's a work in progress, folks, just like me.

Okay, we moved our room downstairs to the guest room. We've talked about doing this for several months. There are many reasons, but mostly it's just more convenient. Bigger closet space. Easier outside access to let the dogs out. Etc. Etc.

And, we thought the room was bigger. WRONG!

The room is big, but so is our bed. Because of the all the doors and windows in the room, there is not a single wall that will accommodate our bed. Can you believe that? So, the bed has to share two walls like this:

I haven't touched those walls with a paintbrush yet. I've been so torn over the color. I'm thinking very seriously about the brown color that we had in our house on Pleasant Drive. By the way, did you know that's where the original name of my blog came from? We lived on Pleasant Drive.

Anyway, the color was called Mud Pie, and it was a creamy brown. Do you remember it?

I'm thinking of doing that with varnished stripes. I love the sophistication of varnished stripes. I did that in a room on Pleasant Drive, too. This was the room, but you can't really see the stripes in this light. I know that, in all the natural sunlight of our current room, they would really show up.

So, moving rooms didn't turn out exactly like we'd planned, but I think that we'll like being downstairs. At least, it's a fun change for now.

So, what did we do with our upstairs room? Don't think I'll leave you hanging.

We turned it into a bunkroom. See?

Now, I need to get matching bedding for the two beds. You'll recognize the green comforter from Pleasant Drive. It's made several moves with us. I've also got to find a large area rug and some low lamps to go on top of the dresser.

This is the view of the room from the doorway. That's a big chair-and-a-half and ottoman, but it's cover is in the washing machine, so the pillows are just piled up. I think this space will be kind of fun for guests when we're all done. It has its own big bathroom and balcony, too.

Stay tuned for more changes to come...

Enjoy your day!

I love your new room! So peaceful. But I have to say.... how on earth do you sleep with such BRIGHTNESS? Now, I know you love your sunlight, but do you wake up with the sun? You crazy lady!

Good morning out there in Texas Lindsey! Hey, I LOVE what you said about your home not looking perfect and being a work in progress, just like you. Asolutely inspired me and encouraged my heart. What a healthy and humble way to look at life! Thank you so much for the example that I completely plan to remind myself of the next time my pride wants to have everything so perfect. By the way, my husband and I moved from Cali to Broken Arrow, OK for two years in 2007 and we moved back here to Cali last November. While we were there we went to TBC and I know your friend Whitney. Well, her and I never "met" officially but we saw eachother and emailed a couple times. Small world. I used to read her blog and when I did was how I found your blog. Anyways, I sent her a pic of me so she could recognize me at church so you should ask her if she still has it on her computer so you can see who Julie-CA is. Have a great day! Sorry for the LONG comment

I like the changes. We all need to change things I am sure and believe me age has nothing to do with maturity-ha. I still have trouble with change even when I see the need for it. But I am flexible so if things change around me I'm good to go-I just have trouble making the changes. You are an inspiration that gives us much food for thought.
