MY FIRST GIVEAWAY!!!

Because I feel so strongly about good nutrition to support optimal health, I decided to give away a tool that has been very important to me - The Maker's Diet. This is, not only a great story about how the diet came to be, but also a great resource for knowing what's allowed on the diet. It also includes a recipe section. I really can't say enough about it. Even if you are totally uninterested in the diet, it's still a great story. Okay, here's how you win a brand new copy of the book.

1. Leave a comment answering the following question.
  • What is something simple you can change to help your health?

2. If you link back to my blog on your site, then feel free to leave 2 comments.

3. I will randomly select a winner (contest stops 11:59AM - Tuesday), and post the result on Wednesday morning.

Good luck!

Breathing deeply. I truly believe breath has much to do with our health (and state of mind). It's human nature to tense up and start to breath shallowly when we're in pain or otherwise stressed. That's when it's even more important to BREATHE! Our cells need oxygen. It's a constant meditation to watch when I'm not taking full, deep breaths, and start doing it again.

I instantly feel better.

In prayer,

Barbara

Exercise! Even a brisk walk does so much that you can't see (aids in digestion, brings normalizes SO many systems in your body). I think a lot of people assume that they have to set aside a huge chunk of time, but even walking for 10 minutes is good for you!

A big thing i'm trying to do as often as possible, is to eat foods as close to their natural form as possible. Whole, raw fruits and veggies whenever possible; hormone free organic meat and dairy products. I'm trying to avoid food that is over processed.

As an added bonus, it's better for the health of the environment too, as fresh fruit and veggies don't need any extra packaging which creates a whole lot of added waste.

Definately deciding what role your diet was designed to play in your life is the simpilist yet most important change you can make to help your health. Once you establish the mindset that our diet is not designed to only be for taste and pleasure but for health benefits and nutrition, the rest follows. Afterall, your mind is where the battle for a healthy lifestyle rages anyways. Renewing it is crucial.

Have a good day!

I am also a cancer patient/survivor and the biggest change I suggest is really start behaving as if every bite you take into your body must be nourishing and something that can do no harm- not everything has to be a super food or you will feel deprived- but adopt a do no harm approach to food and eating.

Replace your non water drink for water during the day! Add lemon and/or lime juice to mix it up.

We could go to drinking only water. We are doing that more and more already and can already tell a difference in many ways.

Something I could do to eat healthier would be to not eat wings anymore. The food we purchase is all antibiotic free and pretty much everything is organic unless they just don't have it, but when we eat out it isn't the same. So, less wings. PS I want that book.

Also, I'm interested to hear about pork. There is another friend of mine who doesn't eat pork and I was asking her about it but I'm slightly confused. Is even antibiotic/organic pork bad? Do you have any good info on that? A good resource?

Something I've been trying to do is eat out less and cook all of our meals at home. I try to use quality ingredients and not those "convenience foods" will all of the preservatives and nasty junk in them. I am very interested in this book!

Wow! almost missed this! whew! We've already started making big changes - low fat, low carb, whole wheat, etc - and drinking water and exercise has made a big difference in the way we feel. Kicking the caffiene habit is hard! But I know in the long run it will be worth it! You are an inspiration Dahlin! HUGZ
