Launching Pad

1 John 5:14 says, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us."

Do not ever discount the power of prayer. If you want to see change and to view the world through a renewed mind, then start approaching God with confidence in prayer. I believe that is just what has taken place in this community of prayers.

I know that you could hear the despair through my post yesterday. It was a tough day, to top off a tough week, to top off a tough month. You get the point. Some days are harder than others. Sometimes faith is harder to live out than others. Yesterday was one of those days.

Ya'll, we have been storming the heavens and pleading with God to make His way abundantly clear, and I believe that He is doing just that.

Late yesterday, I got a phone call telling me to go to my oncologist's office this morning for a discussion of treatments.

You know about the news that we received last Friday - my resistance to treatment. Well, it seems that the enormous team of doctors and geneticists that has been working on my case has now nailed down, through some extensive DNA studies, exactly why my last treatment regimen didn't work. With this information, they have formulated a plan that they believe WILL work. Last week we received the worst possible outlook, and today we are talking about a possible cure!

In a nutshell, this is what we're looking at for treatment:
  1. Start taking an oral chemo drug and an estrogen blocker immediately.
  2. As soon as I am healed from the last 2 surgeries (probably the end of February), I will start radiation (every day for 6 weeks)
  3. After radiation is done, I will begin IV chemo therapy
  4. After IV chemo, I will do Herceptin again
This is a long, extensive regimen. But, it's doable.

Be confident of this, the Lord has put us in perfect peace today. In fact, when I was sitting with my doctor, I exhaled slowly and said, "Finally, I can breathe."

Because of your very precise prayers for us, the Lord is hearing and answering those prayers. I absolutely believe that God is bringing about healing in me. I do not expect this to be the end of me, but rather the point from which I spend the rest of my life proclaiming what good things the Lord has done!

Praise God! I have to tell you that I referenced your blog on my blog (caringbridge.org suzannemoore) because yesterday was my one year anniversary since dx with breast cancer..I am still on herceptin until April.Praying for you has given me a whole new appreciation for all those who prayed me through. As I said yesterday, God is sovereign and I am smiling at how he provides exactly what we need! You are authentic posts are what people need to read to understand all that comes with a cancer diagnosis, so keep it up! Writing has been my outlet. I praise God for his clear direction and will continue to pray for strength with all that is to come. Blessings to you, Suzanne Moore

Lindsey,
This is so awesome. Can't wait to see how you live out the second part of Psalm 118:20 " I will not die but live AND tell of what the Lord has done!" Praying for you and Brian, praying that you will have just enough light for the step that you are on, that you know exactly how to proceed next, that you will have endurance.
God is so good.

Lindsey,

I have never left a comment on your blog, but today I feel the need to send you a message. My mother was diagnosed 4 years ago with stage IV breast cancer...she is post-menopausal, so her case is very different than yours. But, whenever I find a story about breast cancer (found you through your friend Whitney) I can't help but read all about the journey. Ever since I found you I have been glued to your story. You have been in my prayers continuously...I wish you did not have to go through all of this.

The power of prayer is unbelieveable and I think we did a great job...at least today you have something to work with...a way to be treated...a goal to work towards! Hang in there and know that so many of us are praying for you and if we could be there to help we would. Thank you for sharing your personal and private journey with us...someone may benefit from all this information.

Reminders from God:

“Painful as this time is, you will one day see the reason for it. Not cruel testing but tender preparation for the wonderful work you are to do.

Directly put your affairs and their difficulties in My Hands. I will begin to effect a cure.

The sunlight of My Presence is on your path. Trust and go forward unafraid.”

Amen. You are in my prayers daily.

Brian & Lindsey,
The words that come to me are from a hymn. Grace, Grace, God's Grace, Grace that will pardon and cleanse within. Our family prayer has been for you both to clearly, without a doubt, hear God's true word for you.
I was so distraught this morning that I put out a cry to all of our prayer warriors and they stopped right then and prayed for you. When we pray earnestly and Believe, He will answer our prayers.
We are thankful for your good news!

I feel like, and hope that you do too, that everyone has been Storming the Throne on your behalf, she also added a little later with a full out assault.

So glad that you have found peace and a direction for your treatment. will continue to pray for you. After the week you have had, there is a wonderful song by Selah called "press on" that I think speaks beautifully to your faith and what you are going through! You can find it on utube...it's really worth listening to if you have the time.I listened to it today and thought of you and your circumstances. It is a song that was comforting to me in a very difficult season of my life. hang in there and...press on!

I'm singing the doxology "Praise God from whom all blessings flow...". Also the song that goes, "Isn't He wonderful, wonderful, wonderful? Isn't Jesus, my Lord, wonderful...?"
Continuing to storm the gates of heaven...
