Meet Mark

I could hardly contain my excitement today as I slowly opened my mailbox and saw a large package from a familiar sender. I had been looking for this special piece of mail since last week.

For several months now, the Lord has put orphans on my heart in a very big way. I have a dear friend who is currently in Ethiopia with her husband picking up their adopted son after over two years' worth of waiting on this unique child. We've had an adoption campaign going at church. A couple in our Sunday school class is in the adoption process. The pre-op nurse for my last surgery was the new adopted mother of twin daughters. My heart is intrigued by this process and this calling that the Lord places on couples.

James 1:27 says, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..."
After a lot of pondering and praying, I realized that we can care for orphans. My sister's family sponsors a boy named Ronald in Uganda through a locally founded and operated organization. After learning about their sponsorship and checking out the organization's website, I, too, felt called to sponsor a child.
Without further ado - meet Mark:

He is a five-year-old boy who is thriving through the care of the private school that he attends. His family is in extreme poverty, and therefore can't provide for his very basic needs. My heart aches for this little one, and truly for all the little ones. I am so excited about the opportunity and privilege to financially support Mark, but I'm even more excited about the chance to cover his little life in prayer.

Parental Care is awesome! You'll love being able to write this little guy letters and know that you are helping him in so many ways. It's so nice to be a part of a local ministry like this. Yay!

PS - When I saw your heading "meet Mark"...I thought it was another dog :)
